| - Le placement des enfants est une pratique courante des services sociaux dans la prise en charge des enfants en difficulté, abandonnés ou subissant des carences particulières au plan éducatif. Parmi les enfants placés par l'Aide Sociale à l'Enfance, certains ont des parents ayant été eux-même placés au cours de leur enfance. La thèse étudie les facteurs d'ordre psychologique, social ou économique, qui peuvent conduire au placement des enfants, analyse le phénomène de répétition intergénérations du placement des enfants et les conséquences des séparations précoces. La recherche s'appuie sur l'étude d'un échantillon de population composé par des familles d'enfants placés. L'étude met en évidence l'influence de l'isolement affectif et social des parents dans la conduite de placement de leurs enfants. L'orientation récente des services sociaux, qui consiste à maintenir les liens entre l'enfant et sa famille naturelle, paraît devoir être confirmée par le constat de l'échec de la politique précédente de séparation et d'isolement, mais l'analyse du fonctionnement global de la famille en difficulté est nécessaire afin de déterminer les possibilités d'aide les mieux adaptées.
- Placing children is a current practice of social departements, when they have to support children, who are forsaken or who undergo some absences of education. Among the children, who are placed by the departements of social aid to childhood, some of them have parents, who were themselves placed during their own childhood. The thesis surveys psychological, social and economic factors which may lead to place children. It analyses the phenomenon of inter-generation repetition in placing children, and the results of early separation. The search relies on the observation of a population sample, including families of placed children. The observation shows the effect of social and affective loneliness of parents when placing their children. The current orientation of social departments, which consists in holding the links between the child and its natural family, seems to be confirmed by the failure of former policy of separation and isolation, but the analysis of the global running of a family with problems is necessary in order to decide the most suitable aids.
