| - The issue of subject and spatiality in Sartre and Camus' novels leads us to question their theoretical and practical relationships. Is there a significant relationship between the subject and space as focal or structural points in their literary texts? From our analysis, it arises that our corpus abounds in important potentialities of subject and space, and that these concepts are interactive structures producing meanings, which imply the philosophy of the authors. But then, each writer has a different vision of the perception of the subject in space. For Albert Camus, the subject sometimes develops space, sometimes is overwhelmed by its determinations. With Sartre, on the other hand, the subject, led by a will for freedom, uses space to deal with its consciousness. Space thus plays an undeniable part in the construction of the human conscience. Sartre and Camus appear as two writers with divergent visions. Their respective theories, the existentialism for the first and the absurdity for the second, are based on the relationships between space and subject
- La problématique du sujet et de la spatialité dans les œuvres romanesques de Sartre et de Camus nous amène à interroger leurs relations à la fois théoriques et littéraires. Existe-t-il un rapport significatif entre le sujet et l’espace en tant que points focaux ou structurations dans leurs romans ? De l’analyse faite, il ressort que notre corpus regorge d’importantes potentialités en matière de sujet et d’espace et que ces concepts sont des structures interactives produisant des significations qui touchent à la philosophie des auteurs. Chacun d’entre eux a une vision différentielle de la perception du sujet dans l’espace. Avec Albert Camus, le sujet tantôt valorise l’espace, tantôt subit ses déterminations. Chez Jean-Paul Sartre par contre, le sujet, animé par le goût de la liberté exploite l’espace pour y développer son équation personnelle. L’espace joue donc un rôle indéniable dans la construction de la conscience humaine. Sartre et Camus apparaissent comme deux écrivains à stratégies divergentes. Leurs doctrines respectives, l’existentialisme pour le premier et l’absurde pour le second se reconstruisent aussi à partir de la relation entre sujet et espace
