Cette thèse d'histoire contemporaine explore, par une approche à la fois comparée et croisée, les processus ibériques de transition à la démocratie entre 1973 et 1982 à travers un prisme original : la télévision. Nées à la fin des années 1950, sous les régimes dictatoriaux de Franco et Salazar, la Televisi6n Espano/a (TVE) et la Radiotelevisao Portuguesa (RTP) sont par la suite devenues des actrices de la Transition en Espagne et au Portugal, en participant à la construction d'un nouvel espace démocratique. Cette étude politique et culturelle appréhende les transitions péninsulaires depuis plusieurs perspectives, celle des élites dirigeantes, celle de la société civile, c'est-à-dire des téléspectateurs, témoins et acteurs des nombreux changements à l'œuvre pendant ces dix années, mais aussi celle des équipes de la RTP et de la TVE, et en particulier les journalistes, qui se trouvent à la charnière de ces deux sphères. L'analyse croisée des récits de la TVE et de la RTP, à la fois centrés sur le processus national de transition vers la démocratie mais aussi sur celui du pays voisin, permet d'identifier des influences réciproques fortes et de mettre à jour la profonde interdépendance qui unit les deux pays. En effet, l'intertextualité audiovisuelle éclaire les nombreux liens culturels qui relient les sociétés ibériques pendant les périodes de transition à la démocratie. This PhD thesis in comparative contemporary history explores two lberian processes of transition to democracy between 1973 and 1982 through the original prism of television. Born in the 1950s under the dictatorships of Salazar and Franco, the Radiotelevisao Portuguesa (RTP) and the Televisi6n Espano/a (TVE) later became actors of the transition, participating in the construction of a new democratic space. This political and cultural study of the RTP and TVE highlights the lberian transitions from both points of view, the ruling elites' one as well as civil society's, while paying special attention to journalists and technicians who connect these two realms. Furthermore, the project examines the reciprocal influences between the two peninsular countries. The cross-analysis of the TVE and RTP broadcasts, which were dedicated to their own country's transition process as well as the neighbour's one, allows us to identify mutual influences and to underscore strong interdependence. Audio­visual intertextuality thus reveals ample cultural entanglements between both lberian societies during the transitions to democracy.
